Greta

Hi my name is Greta. My life was really rough before my rescue family saved me. I’m in a much better place now. My foster mommy has taught me that love and patience goes a long way. I think my heart and my mind is starting to heal. I really don’t like anyone touching me, but I’m starting to get used to it. Every once in a while, I let my foster mommy hold me for a few minutes and I let her gently rock me; especially when I have an anxiety fit. In the morning I’m pretty groggy, so that’s when foster mommy likes to give me warm towel facials, it’s good for my eyes.

I’m thinking she prefers me to go potty outside instead of inside, but I do what I want when I want. She does work from home so she lets me outside very often so I think we are meeting in the middle now. Besides walking around on the backyard deck with my pal Goose. l also love to sleep. I have moments of anxiety and confusion but my foster mommy will gently pick me up before I hurt myself. If she doesn’t, I run into walls and chairs. When I calm down she gently puts me in my play pin to rest. It’s a good size play pin so I don’t feel trapped. No, im sorry, I don’t like to cuddle, but neither would you if you went through what I did.

After I go potty outside, foster mommy lets me cruise around the house, it helps with my joints; I do have arthritis. I do okay with other dogs, as long as they leave me alone. I will need someone without children; loud noises and fast movements trigger me. Oh, and did I mention I like to run around every once in a while? Yup, I might be old but I’ve still got some steam left in me. My eyesight and hearing aren’t too good so everyone around me needs to be careful because I may not see you or hear you.
The kind of person I need is someone that will just want to provide a place for me to feel safe. I may not be what some people consider a “good companion”, since I like to be alone, but I’m a quiet pup, I never bark, I never make a sound, and I just need someone to love me and show me that not all humans are bad. I need someone with a lot of patience, quiet, and home most of the day.

P.S. I really enjoy all-beef milk bone snack time.

(my long term medications are: painkillers for my arthritis, anti-anxiety medication, and of course heartworm prevention)
